Brazil terminates anti-dumping and countervailing investigations on optical cable products originating in China

According to the information obtained from the China Trade Remedy Information website, on September 4, 2023, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services issued Notice No. 35 of 2023, announcing the termination of the anti-subsidy investigation on optical cable products originating from China due to inaccurate and insufficient information submitted by the applicants, which affected the analysis of the case. The relevant products have the NCM (Mercosur Common Nomenclature) code 8544.70.10. This notice shall take effect from the date of its publication.
On September 5, 2023, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services issued Notice No. 36 of 2023, announcing the termination of the anti-dumping investigation on optical cable products originating from China for similar reasons as mentioned above. The relevant products have the NCM code 8544.70.10. This notice shall take effect from the date of its publication.
It is understood that on June 22, 2023, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services issued a notice stating that an anti-subsidy investigation was initiated on optical cable products originating from China in response to applications submitted by Brazilian companies Cablena do Brasil Ltda., Furukawa Electric Latam S.A., and Prysmian Cabos e Sistemas do Brasil S.A. on October 31, 2022. The subsidy investigation period covers July 2021 to June 2022, and the injury investigation period covers July 2017 to June 2022.
Additionally, on May 11, 2023, the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services announced the initiation of an anti-dumping investigation on optical cable products originating from China. The dumping investigation period covers July 2021 to June 2022, and the injury investigation period covers July 2017 to June 2022.
