Zhongtian Technology discloses three underwater optical cable patents
Recently, Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology Co., Ltd. has publicly disclosed three patents related to underwater optical cables. Designed for use in environments such as rivers, lakes, shallow seas, coastal areas, and islands, underwater optical cables must meet specific conditions for year-round operation, including excellent waterproofing, moisture resistance, corrosion resistance, and pressure resistance.
Patent 1: Pressure-Resistant Underwater Optical Cable
The first patent addresses the technical challenge of achieving pressure resistance and waterproofing in underwater optical cables. The cable includes a core composed of optical fibers and an oil-filled buffer tube. Layers such as stainless steel tube, flat protective sheath, framework, intermediate protective layer, asphalt water-blocking layer, and outer protective sheath are successively applied to the outer side of the core. The stainless steel tube layer is filled with fiber grease for enhanced tensile strength. The framework, featuring a central circular frame and multiple T-shaped support frames, includes pressure-resistant bars placed in the gap between the circular frame and the arc frame.
By combining stainless steel, protective layers, and the framework, this design effectively addresses the challenge of achieving both pressure resistance and waterproofing in underwater optical cables.
Patent 2: Multi-Layered Underwater Optical Cable
The second patent introduces a multi-layered underwater optical cable designed to mitigate underwater pressure. It consists of a core, first protective layer, corrugated buffer tube, rounded triangular framework, second protective layer, protective layer, third protective layer, rubber buffer layer, and water-resistant skin layer. The corrugated buffer tube is filled with first and second buffering tubes in the triangular and side gaps of the framework, respectively, with the first buffering tube having a larger diameter than the second.
The combination of the rounded triangular framework, corrugated buffer tube, and two buffering tubes effectively cushions underwater pressure on the entire cable core. The protective layers enhance the cable's mechanical performance, and the rubber buffer layer absorbs pressure on the outermost water-resistant skin layer. This multi-layered protection ensures the cable's resistance to pressure and waterproofing.
Patent 3: Water-Blocking Mechanism in Underwater Optical Cable
The third patent introduces a unique water-blocking mechanism for underwater optical cables. The cable comprises a core formed by wrapping water-blocking yarn around multiple optical units, with dry water-blocking powder filling the gaps between optical fibers within the units, between units in the water-blocking yarn, and between adjacent pressure-resistant support parts on the outer side of the core.
The use of dry water-blocking powder between optical fibers and within the water-blocking yarn enhances water resistance. The combination of multiple optical units within water-blocking yarn, reinforced by pressure-resistant support parts and dry water-blocking powder, significantly improves the cable's mechanical strength, waterproofing, sealing, and corrosion resistance.
Jiangsu Zhongtian Technology's groundbreaking patents for underwater optical cables demonstrate a commitment to advancing technology in the field. These innovations address critical challenges, such as pressure resistance, waterproofing, and mechanical durability, ensuring the reliability of underwater optical communication systems in diverse and challenging environments. As demand for robust and resilient underwater communication infrastructure grows, these patented designs are poised to make a substantial impact on the industry.
